Sky Announces Decision On F1 Season Finale

Last updated:

Sources at Sky have confirmed that it is “unlikely” that this seasons finale in Abu Dhabi will be shown on a free to air basis and it will remain exclusive to Sky customers.

With just two races remaining, only eight points separate the top two drivers and all indicators are pointing toward an explosive finale in Abu Dhabi.

Much like the 2016 title race, many F1 fans hoped that the final race of the season would be broadcast live and free of charge across Sky and Channel 4.

However, rumours have been put to rest after Sky released the following statement in an interview with motorsportbroadcasting.com:

“The race is unlikely to be free to air on December 12th. Highlights will be available on Channel 4 as always.”

Sky’s official schedule of the race states that it will begin its coverage on Sky F1 before switching to Sky Sports Main Event for the race on Sunday 12th December.

The inaugural Saudi Arabian Grand Prix will proceed as planned with coverage starting on the 3rd of December.
