Ricciardo is excited to “put on a show”

Latest Episode | Cut To The Race Podcast

This season is the first time we’ve had an Australian GP since 2019 and no one is more excited than the honey badger himself…

After a disappointing start to the season McLaren, and Daniel Ricciardo in particular, is ready to fight. Now that F1 is going to Australia, Daniel is excited for his first home race in 3 years.

In a McLaren Press statement Daniel has stated that he’s been home since the Saudi GP. The strict Australian travel restrictions meant that Ricciardo couldn’t travel home for nearly two years.

Now he’s clearly enjoying his time at home …

Ricciardo made it home at Christmas and is now back enjoying his home comforts.

I’ve been back in Perth since the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, and I feel rested, prepared and excited to get stuck into one of my favourite weekends of the year. – Daniel Ricciardo “

Moving on to talk about the circuit itself, Ricciardo says he’s excited about the new layout which has been updated for the first time in nearly 25 years.

The Australian is known as the Honey Badger for his daring, late-braking, and aggressive overtaking style and seems to love the new layout.

It will also be great to try out the new layout for myself, particularly the sweeping right hander as it seems fast. – Ricciardo”

The new layout has been revealed ahead of the race this weekend. The track looks very fast but what makes it even faster is that it seems to have FOUR DRS zones.

It’s not just Daniel who’s excited for the Australian GP, although he’s got that trademark grin plastered on his face. McLaren’s Lando Norris is also very excited ahead of this weekend.

I’m looking forward to getting out on track in the new car in Melbourne, especially with the changes they’ve made since we last raced there 3 years ago.  -Lando Norris”

It seems that both McLaren drivers have a soft spot for the Australian GP. Lando likes Australia because it was his F1 debut.

It’s a special race for me. I made my debut there in 2019 and with the pandemic, we haven’t raced there since.- Lando Norris “

Ahead of the weekend, both drivers want to move on from Saudi Arabia. McLaren didn’t have the best performance there. Ricciardo had to retire from the race.

Both drivers are ready to improve and move on:

Let’s get back out there, fight as hard as we can and hopefully put on a bit of a show!” – Daniel Ricciardo
