Nyck de Vries has been announced as Mahindra’s newest driver, alongside Edoardo Mortara, for Formula E Season 10.

Nyck de Vries is coming back to Formula E following his stint in Formula 1. De Vries is rejoining the series with Mahindra. He will be teaming up with Edoardo Mortara, who recently left Maserati.
Despite not giving much away about his most recent Formula 1 endeavour, the Dutch driver spoke about how excited he was to be coming back to Formula E.
“Coming back to Formula E will feel like coming home.”
“I’ve been part of the Formula E family for three seasons. I know everybody very well. I’m looking forward to being back in a familiar environment, and to be back somewhere where ultimately, I’ve always enjoyed my racing.”
The fact that De Vries came back to Formula E was somewhat expected but the fact he has come back with Mahindra has shocked many. Talking about why he signed with the team, Nyck spoke about the future potential of the team.
“I think it’s no secret that the team has had a bit of a rough start to Gen3. There were positive signs of improvement during the second half of last season. I believe the team can continue to build on those learnings, and with the additional changes and plans in place for the future, we can make even greater steps forward in performance at the start of our new journey together.”
Mortara’s signing
Edoardo Mortara was also a new signing for the Mahindra team having only just left Maserati. Mortara has been in Formula E for many years. He has had six race wins in the series with a career-high series finish of third in Season 8.
The ex-Maserati driver struggled this past season and spoke about the move to Mahindra as being one he has thought about for a while.
“I’m extremely excited to be joining Mahindra Racing. It’s a team that I’ve been looking at for several years now. They have been in Formula E since the beginning of the Championship, so there’s a lot of experience there.”
Sharing the same outlook as De Vries, Mortara is looking to work with the team on approaching a successful future.
“I can’t wait to get started, and I’m sure that, if we put in the necessary amount of work, we will be able to be successful in this very competitive championship in the future.”
