Marko responds to Toto Wolff who called Verstappen’s 10 wins in a row “irrelevant.”

In Monza Max Verstappen made history and became the first driver to ever win a consecutive 10 in a row. That brings Red Bulls winning streak up to 15, this statistic stretches all the back to Abu Dhabi last season.
Both Verstappen and Red Bull have been tough to match all season, the two Ferrari’s are the only non Red Bull drivers to have a pole this season. Heading into Singapore the Dutchman currently has a 145 lead over second place and could win the title as early as Japan.
There is “no driver right now that could beat Verstappen”
After Verstappen added another record to his name in Monza, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner praised Verstappen and spoke about how “unbeatable” Verstappen is:
“Max, what he’s doing, he’s breaking records, he’s driving at an unbelievable level,
I don’t think there’s anybody in the world right now that could beat Max Verstappen.”
in this car, that’s for sure.”
Not everyone is happy with the record
However, not everyone was praising Verstappen for this record. Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff hit out at the Dutchman saying the record was ”completely irrelevant”:
“For me these types of records are completely irrelevant,”.
During Mercedes dominant streak of world and constructor championships between 2014-2021, Nico Rosberg achieved seven consecutive wins.
Wolff added how consecutive wins were never a big deal for Mercedes back then:
“They were irrelevant in our good days in Mercedes, I don’t know how many races we won in a row, and I didn’t even know that there was a count for how many races in a row you win. The result itself shows that a great driver in a great car is competing on an extremely high level.”
“I don’t know whether he cares about the record,” Wolff continued.
“It’s not something that would be important for me, any of those numbers.
“It’s for Wikipedia and nobody reads that anyway”
Helmut Marko responds
The strong statement Wolff said had no response from either Horner or Verstappen as of yet. In a recent interview with Autosport, Helmut Marko gave his own opinion about the statement:
“This is the difference [between Mercedes and ourselves],”
“We look at our team to get the best performance out of our own team, and we don’t worry about Mercedes as long as they are not a serious competitor for us.
“We just look at our own stuff. We do our best and we don’t make up all these kinds of stories like they are doing.”
