According to Motorsport.com Italia, Lewis Hamilton will be continuing in Formula One in 2022 and is not retiring.
Rumours speculated that the seven-time world champion was going to retire after the 2021 F1 season because of the events of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. However, Hamilton is said to have confirmed with Mercedes that he will be racing next year. Toto Wolff had previously hinted that there would be a possibility of Hamilton discontinuing his racing career.
Since Max Verstappen was crowned World Champion, Hamilton has been radio-silent on all social media platforms. He has had the time to reflect on the events of the final round, but never expressed the desire to retire.
Wolff’s statements fuelled the rumours as he said Hamilton was “disillusioned” by the controversial events of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. He added:
“I would very much hope Lewis continues racing because he is the greatest driver of all time.”
Hamilton will be racing alongside George Russell. Russell showed his talents in a Mercedes at the Sakhir Grand Prix last year.
The two will race for the Silver Arrows in 2022 as teammates.
