It was announced by the Formula Regional European Championship a couple of hours ago that 18-year-old Dilano van ‘t Hoff passed away after being involved in a crash during the Spa 24-hour round of the GT World Endurance Challenge. The incident occurred during wet conditions on the closing lap of the race. It occurred on the same track where F2 driver Anthoine Hubert lost his life back in 2019.

MP Motorsports announced the devasting news of his passing

“We are devastated at the loss of one of our brightest Dutch talents, who brought so much energy to our team during the years he raced with us.

“Dilano has been a part of our racing family since his motorsport debut with MP back in 2021.

“We offer our sincere condolences to Dilano’s family and his loved ones, and are in full support of them and our team members who have lost not only a driver but a friend as well.”

Van ‘t Hoff joined MP Motorsports back in 2021 for their Spanish F4 championship, where he won 10 races and took the championship later that year. His success continued in 2021 when he competed in the Formula 4 UAE Championship winter series. Van ‘t Hoff won 5 of the races and finished 2nd overall, just one point behind the championship leader Enzo Trulli. While taking part in these series’ he was also racing part-time in Formula Regional before making the switch to full-time in 2022. He earned a podium place after an impressive driver in the Barcelona round later that year.

“We are so sad to learn of the passing of Dilano van ‘t Hoff today at Spa-Francorchamps. Dilano died in pursuit of his dream to reach the pinnacle of motorsport,” Said F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali

“Along with the entire motorsport community, our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.”

Teams have offered their condolences on social media with Red Bull writing,

“Our hearts go out to Dilano’s family, friends, and the larger motorsport community. Pausing to reflect on the tragic passing of this young man, far too soon.”

Aston Martin also added,

“Sending our deepest condolences to Dilano’s family and friends, from everyone at AMF1 team.”

Everyone at FormulaNerds sends their deepest condolences to Dilanos family, friends and team.
