After much speculation, it has been revealed that Jean Todt will not return to Ferrari for the 2022 F1 season, as reported by Corriere Della Sera.
After much deliberation, Ferrari chairman John Elkann has decided against the move that would have brought Todt back to the team for the first time since 2009.
Talks over a return were discussed by Todt himself earlier in the season, who played a prominent role in Ferrari’s success in the early 2000s. With Todt at the helm, Ferrari collected 6 driver world titles with Michael Schumacher and Kimi Raikkonen, alongside 8 constructors world titles.
In 2009, Todt was elected President of the FIA and was re-elected again in 2013.
Until these reports emerged, it was believed that Todt would return to act as a consultant for the Ferrari team whilst also acting as a mentor for current boss Mattia Binnoto.
However, after a series of reflections, Elkann has decided against the move for the time being but is expected to revisit this precious collaboration.
