A late qualifying session saw Jamie Chadwick take the pole position at Paul Ricard. Starting next to her, Visser in second and Marti in third.
The first to set a time was 2-times Champion Jamie Chadwick, who had to quickly leave the first place to Marta Garcia with 2:04.559. Garcia was quickly joined in the battle for first by fellow Spaniard Nerea Marti.
The theme of track limits immediately came into play in W Series as Abbi Pulling time was deleted for an exit at turn 11. The Brit was then able to set a lap, however, and ultimately finished in P12. Pulling wasn’t however the only one to struggle as multiple drivers got laps deleted due to track limits.
The top of the timing sheets changed again as Beitske Visser confirmed the competitiveness shown during free practice. The second part of qualifying following the pitstops confirmed Marta Garcia at the top with a 2:03.055.
The negative surprise of qualifying saw both Alice Powell and Abbi Pulling struggle during qualifying and only get to the eleventh and twelfth positions. Difficulties were also shown by Emma Kimilainen, who is set to start the race in 10th, confirming the tough start of the season.
On the other side of the grid, however, Jamie Chadwick seemed to struggle to find the pace to fight for the pole. Moreover, the Brit will be investigated for a penalty for crossing the line at the pit exit at the end of the session. Never count Chadwick out though as the 2-times Champion finally managed to put together a lap and conquered the pole position.
