A last-minute announcement changes once again the Race of Champions line-up as Valtteri Bottas will NOT take part in the 2022 edition.Β
Alfa Romeo driver Valtteri Bottas was supposed to race for Team Finland alongside Mika Hakkinen but as reported by Autosport.com, the Finn won’t be able to race in Sweden: “Valtteri had commitments and a last-minute cancellation.”.
Filling in for the former Mercedes driver will be Emma KimilΓ€inen, who came third in the 2021 W Series Championship. The 32-years-old impressed the W Series audience with her racecraft skills winning in a wet Spa-Francorchamps by almost 9 seconds.
Regarding the switch, Kimilainen admitted: “Itβs an honour to be here, thanks for inviting me. He [Hakkinen] is my childhood hero. I was just talking with his kids and remembering when I was their age, watching every Sunday when there was F1 [on], watching the racing.β
On his side, Hakkinen reciprocated: “Iβm happy to have Emma, itβs going to be brilliant.β.
