Alfa Romeo seek points in Mexico as Zhou races here for the first time
Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu can't wait to get racing around Mexico
After a disappointing weekend for Alfa Romeo in Austin, Bottas and Zhou are looking forwards to Mexico.
Zhou Guanyu will be racing in Mexico for the first time in his Formula One career this weekend with Alfa Romeo. His rookie season so far has been impressive, but not without some ups and downs. After suffering a crash at Silverstone and several weekends with no points. But this weekend, he’s on the hunt:
“It will be important to adapt quickly to the track and to its peculiar conditions, to be at the top of our game from the start of the weekend and carry on the momentum into the race.”
Zhou’s journey with Alfa Romeo
Although we’re nearing to the end of the season, Zhou still has plenty of time to prove his talent in Formula One with Alfa Romeo. He’s certainly keen to get going in Mexico for the first time too. It’s essential that Zhou gets to grips with the Mexico track quickly. It’s important for Alfa Romeo to score some points this weekend if they want to secure a strong position in the midfield.
Speaking on his first time in Mexico. Zhou shared:
“I’ve always wanted to race here in Mexico, and I can’t wait to finally be on track, yet another one for me to properly get to know. The atmosphere and the fans’ passion for the sport seem great, and I’m looking forward to experiencing that this week.”
Bottas currently sits P10 in the Drivers Standings, with Sebastian Vettel just eight points shy of him. After Vettel’s impressive performance in Austin, perhaps Bottas should be keeping an eye on the field behind him.
Bottas has achieved three podiums in Mexico in the past, all with his previous team, Mercedes. He knows the track well, but will he get a top 10 finish like he hopes?
